Unlocking New Possibilities in Disease Detection

When we first established DrNose it was assumed that it would be a device for the early screening of a couple of cancers. Trials were done for Breast Cancer (at the Ben Gurion University in Israel) and for Lung Cancer (at the University of New South Wales in Australia). Both were very successful and allowed us to move forward to more extensive clinical trials in order to obtain regulatory approvals.

However, we discovered something else along the way. Our R&D team found that the device is equally efficient at detecting early stage:

· Asthma

· COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease

· Cystic Fibrosis

· Pulmonary Fibrosis

· Kidney diseases

· Liver diseases

· Diabetes

· Gastro-intestinal diseases.

The research shows that it is also applicable for early-stage diagnosis of various other upper thoracic cancers. We are now looking at whether other cancers such as colorectal cancer can also be detected in the breath.

The key to DrNose is the device itself. It has long been known that people exude toxic chemicals in their breath when they are unwell. But building a single device that can detect all these ailments has always been the challenge. DrNose solved that. It is a non-intrusive, low cost, easy to use device that provides results in real time. The device uses multiple specially selected sensors and between them, the patterns they generate can help determine what a person is suffering from. There are hundreds of smell sensors available on the market. Determining which specific sensors can be used to diagnose all the above diseases has been the subject of over a decade of research.

The algorithms used to provide the diagnosis are AI based using “Intuitive AI” technology developed by our parent company, iOmniscient (www.iomni.ai), which does not require deep learning with massive amounts of data or GPUs. This enables us to train the DrNose device very quickly with minimal datasets and at a very low cost.
